Please read completely but do hesitate to contact me directly at info@tucsontangofestival.com if something is not clear.

The 2020 Tucson Tango Festival has been canceled. If you have a room reservation at Casino Del Sol Resort it will be automatically released. You will receive a notice stating that fact Monday March 16th from Casino Del Sol.

All registration funds will be held on account for any future events hosted by Tucson Tango Festival LLC. I regret that it is not possible to refund at this time. I am sure you are all aware that many events, mainly those like ours that were scheduled in hotel venues, have had to ask for donations to keep this from being a huge financial burden. We fortunately will not need to do that and will over time get balanced out. As soon as we have worked our way to a positive point after an event we will start refunding any registration fees that have not been used. We appreciate your understanding in this area and the burden this is placing on all event organizers.

SO WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

In the hopes that by the first of July it is time to throw a heck of a welcome back party, and celebrate all our independence from this nightmare, we are changing the Phoenix July 4th Marathon to a Festithon. The marathon was a great success last year with rave reviews. We started the event in Phoenix last summer because it is so cheap and easy to run an event at that time in Phoenix. The Phoenix airport is extremely easy to get into from any where in the country. The success of a couple of huge Westcoast swing events held in the summer in Phoenix and the fact that we own are own floor made it an easy, minimal risk decision, and it paid off with a great event. The venue is in the heart of the ASU dining and shopping area. We only utilized a small portion of the hotel meeting space last year so expanding was easy. The hotel is hurting like all hotels are so they were very open to expanding and giving us all the space we need.

What is the bottom line?
Everything will remain as it was for the marathon. The main ballroom will stay totally dedicated to dancing only with 42 hours of milongas at this time. If registration dictates, we will add evening alternative milongas in a second ballroom during peak hours to relieve pressure on the main ballroom
4 instructor couples have been added to offer 36 classes broken into 16 time slots.
We have organized workshop formats along with stand alone classes for those that learn better in that system.
The hotel has greatly expanded the number of sleeping room nights and maintained the same rate with no resort or parking fees.
We have spent that last week beating up the numbers to supply the greatest experience possible at the cheapest possible price as we all just want back to dancing and are going to be tight on money after all this is over.
We are only bringing in instructors that live in the US so we won’t have to worry about visa or travel bans.
We are setting up multiple and large private teaching rooms and will not be charging the instructors for space usage. They are going to need all the money in their pockets as they dig out of this stressfull time. You will be able to book privates early as all instructors will have a google doc by Monday to reserve times.
We will miss all our dancing friends the next couple of months but look forward to hugging all of you over the July 4th weekend.
